Getting to Kefalonia

By air :

Charter flights to Kefalonia operate during the months of May to October inclusive. In order to assist you in sourcing competitively priced flights to Kefalonia, Astro-holidays works in affiliation with Airflights.co.uk. Throughout the year there are daily flights with Olympic Airways from Athens to Kefalonia and the flight time is 45 minutes. A couple of low cost airlines fly from Luton and Gatwick to Athens as well as regular Olympic flights.

The airport in Kefalonia is located 9 kilometres from Argostoli, the capital of the island. The transfer time to Agia Efimia is approximately 45 minutes. There are no public buses from/to the airport. However, car hire is available and there are a number of taxis based there. If you would like us to arrange a taxi transfer for you please ask at the time of booking your accommodation.


By Bus:

There is a daily bus service from Athens bus station.

By Ferry :

Kefalonia is the largest of the seven Ionian islands and there are regular ferries to and from the island from mainland Greece and Italy, the Italian service calls at various Greek ports during the journey. If you would like further information on the ferry sevices please contact us


Car hire

We will be pleased to quote car hire rates with a local supplier in Kefalonia. Please contact usadvising the following information :

  • The dates you require a car (start date and end date)

  • Would you like the car delivered to the airport for your arrival?

  • The number of people in your party

  • The type of car you would like to hire
     

If you are collecting a car from the airport and driving to one of our accommodations in Agia Efimia (or surrounding area), we will forward clear driving instructions to you, including photographs of the main junctions, which will make your journey very straightforward.


Taxi Transfers

Transfers to Sami and Agia Efimia by taxi from the airport can be expensive. I have heard various amounts starting at 55 Euros and rising to 90 Euros. There is little point arguing after the event so before you get into the vehicle ask the fare to your destination.

If you are travelling to Sami or Agia Efimia and staying in accommodation we have arranged, please email us if you would like us to arrange a private taxi transfer for you from the airport when you arrive. The cost for 2008 is currently 43 Euros and we can arrange this with a local reliable taxi based in Agia Efimia or Sami. Do not forget to arrange the return trip to the airport with the driver, and get his telephone number in case you need to contact him in the meantime
