About Myrtos Beach

The nerve racking road down to Myrtos beach is worth the trip if you are into wide sandy beaches. However the sand stops at the water line and small pebbles take over so tender feet may need protecting with sandals. As beaches go Myrtos is possibly one of the most featured in travel brochures and claimed to be one of the best beaches on Kefalonia. It is without doubt a beautiful beach to visit. Protected against development, the only permitted facility is a single refreshment bar offering drinks, sandwiches and ice creams.

The beach bar springs a pleasant surprise in as much as there is a loo for disabled people. So few places in the Greek Islands have complied with the EEC disability and human rights regulations regarding the provision of this type of facility, so lets hear it for Dimitri. HIP HIP! Horray!!....... 2008 update ! Smarter new loos plus a rebuilt Cantina!!In November 2007 heavy seas crashed onto the beach and removed the toilet block and destroyed the cantina. These will have to be replaced for the 2008 season!
